Brighter future cat rescue
I somehow lost my humans and landed myself in Blacktown Animal Holding Facility. My clever move was to give the volunteers big bear hugs and from that lots of lovely people worked hard to get me out of there. I've been with my foster family hanging out in their office with some other cat friends. When I arrived, I was very skinny but they have been spoiling me with lots of love. They often give me BBQ chicken and also home-cooked chicken broth and it's my favourite!
They gave me a shampoo and I quite enjoyed it. I've now free run of their office and my favourite spot is on their office chair. I love looking out the big window for them to arrive to visit me every day. Recently they took me to their other workplace and I had such a great day exploring and I wandered to each person at their desk to say hello. I'm living with other cats and kittens at the moment and quite happy to have them around. I'm equally happy doing my own thing.
WHAT WE THINK: We have had the pleasure of being Willis's foster family. He's just a gorgeous boy and we have got to know him very well. This is the first time we have cared for a Manx cat and we have learnt to read other body language cues since we don't have a tail to reference to.
Willis is on a diet of preservative free foods and we give him raw food and cooked chicken and I gave him Sashimi recently and wow did he enjoy that ! This boy love his food and he makes me laugh when its meal time because he will reach up against me or the benchtop with those big eyes silently begging for food !
Just lately we noticed for the first time Willis playing and jumping in the air. He must finally feel healthy, safe and loved. I've heard Cymrics are exceptional jumpers and of late he's been exploring on top of our filing cabinet and bookcase. It's been a joy to watch his progress.
Willis most definitely has a mind of his own. He let's us know what he likes and doesn't like. We recently had our friends 10 year old daughter visit and he was very happy to sit on her lap. Generally I wouldn't call him a lap cat !
Medical Notes
Willis does have sensitive skin and 'gut' but with good quality food that's all under control. It's been amazing to bring him back to beautiful condition and he now has a magnificent shiny coat.
Adoption Process
At Brighter Future Cat Rescue we adopt to indoor homes only or homes with suitable cat runs. A 2 week trial period is given to ensure that they are ideal for your situation and lifestyle. All our cats come desexed, microchipped, first vaccination and their worming and flea treatment are up to date.
Please promise to protect him and ensure that he never ends up in shelter again. Remember that owning a cat is a lifelong commitment and hopefully for Willis that will be another 15 to 20 years. We have worked tirelessly to keep Willis safe and back to great health. He's been inside since we rescued him and he doesn't crave the outside. We ask that you respect our wishes to protect him by keeping him as an 'inside only' cat unless you have a cat run or enclosed area. Please ensure your house or apartment can contain a cat inside (i.e. fly screens etc). He's a rescue cat and we would think nothing worse that he end up back on the streets and in danger of the perils of modern day society.
Willis is currently in foster care in Kings Park (near the beginning of the M7). If you are keen to meet him you are welcome to arrange a time to visit and we are also willing to arrange a home visit / check with you.
